Westwind Sailing runs youth sailing and paddling day camps at Baby Beach in Dana Point Harbor, grouped by age: Mini Mates for ages 6-8 and Voyager for ages 11-13, among other classes and camps on its Dana Point schedule. Programs combine on-the-water sailing instruction with paddling, and private lessons are also offered. Westwind awards scholarships to eligible youth, including members of the Boys & Girls Club and other community organizations, and considers other circumstances that would otherwise prevent a child from participating.

Based on the camp’s policy, Westwind could have easily told us there was nothing they could do — but they did the opposite. They were quick to respond, incredibly understanding, and went out of their way to accommodate us. In a world where customer service can be hit-or-miss, their compassion and professionalism really stood out. Another lovely moment: during the “practice capsizing” day, my elderly parents came to watch. Without us asking, the amazing staff brought out chairs for them so they could sit and enjoy the event comfortably. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare and speaks volumes about the team behind this camp. I rented the kayak for 1 hour but I had trouble coming back in time. They were not strict with my return as they knew this was my first time. Also it was very windy yesterday.
