Privacy Policy

USA Kid Camp is a directory that helps parents find youth camps, classes, and programs. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the site needs to work, we don’t sell personal information, and the camp listings themselves are built from operators’ own public websites — not from data about you.

Information you give us

Account details. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash — we cannot read it). You may optionally add a phone number for camp alerts.

Reviews.A review includes your rating, your written text, the year your camper attended, and — optionally — your child’s age at the time. Reviews are written by parents about their family’s experience; we never collect information directly from children, and the site is not directed at children under 13. Published reviews display your first name and last initial only. Every review is read by a person before it appears.

Saved camps, alerts, and feedback. We store the camps you save, the alert preferences you set, and anything you send through the feedback or camp-submission forms.

Information about camps

Listing data — descriptions, session dates, prices, ages, contact details — comes from camp operators’ own public websites and from operators who claim or submit their listings. It is information about businesses, not about you or your children.

Cookies and sign-in

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email with us under their own privacy policy. Map displays are provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies. If display advertising is enabled on the site, ad partners may use cookies subject to their policies; we will list active partners here.

How we use information

To operate the site: showing your saved camps, sending alerts you asked for, publishing moderated reviews, and responding to feedback. We send transactional email (verification, alerts, claim updates) — not marketing lists. We do not sell personal information, and we share it only with service providers that run the site (hosting, email delivery) under contract.

Retention and your choices

We keep account data while your account is active. You can edit your profile and alert settings any time. To delete your account and its data, or to ask what we hold about you, contact us via the feedback form — we’ll act on verified requests promptly. Published reviews may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion.

Children’s privacy

The site is for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The only child-related information we hold is what a parent chooses to include in a review (a year attended and an optional age) — never a child’s name, and we ask reviewers not to name children in review text. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we’ll update the date above and note the change here. Questions? Reach us through the feedback form.
