The United States Sailing Center in Long Beach runs one-week Kids Sailing Camps on Alamitos Bay for children ages 8-14, teaching sailing basics, knot tying and seamanship in small groups aboard the center's boats with an instructor in each boat. Sessions are half-day mornings, 8:45am to 12:30pm, with supervision from 8:30am to 12:45pm; tuition is $150 per week and a graduation lunch is included on the final Friday. Every sailor takes a swim test on the first day, swimming 75 feet and treading water for one minute, and parents must sign campers in and out daily. Most staff are US Sailing certified and all hold First Aid and CPR certification; need-based scholarships may be available.

★★★★Doreen PHi, I haven't been inside but I do like to park there on the street. I can walk my standing board to the bay. I like to use it as a paddle board. I taught my dog to go with me although I need a life jacket for her. Certain times,most of these times, are windy 12:00 to 2:00pm. The para sailing boarders come out to the ocean side. Vigorous sport. These athletes ride fast then catch wind, do flips, & tricks. Have fun!
