OCC School of Sailing & Seamanship
OCC School of Sailing & Seamanship · Private
The OCC School of Sailing & Seamanship, operated by Orange Coast College, runs week-long summer sailing camps at two Newport Beach waterfronts: the OCC Waterfront Campus for ages 7-13 and Marina Park for ages 6-17. No experience is needed for beginner camps, but every camper must pass a 50-yard swim check on the first day. Classes progress from Mini-Mariners and Level 1 learn-to-sail through sailing fundamentals, a Level 3 skill-development and science-exploration class, intermediate single-handed Sabot sailing and a Level 5 introduction to racing; a Sailing & Paddling camp combines sailing with kayaking and paddleboarding in Newport Harbor. Youth ages 7-17 who receive free or reduced school meals can apply for scholarships covering up to $275 of camp per year.

Powered by GoogleNo refunds! We had a family emergency and had to cancel. They offered no refund for my kid's 3 hour lesson and were out $275 (which is way overpriced for a public/community institution!). They do not send confirmation texts or call lessons either. In addition, the staff have attitude, sound unprofessional, and it seems like they don't know what they're doing. Get it together OCC!!!
Our 9 year old son LOVED their summer camp, and my husband and I had a wonderful beginners learning-experience with Thomas. Definitely continuing our education at OCC! Thanks everyone!
Our family is close to finishing our 10th class, and we tried Lido I & II class, Harbor 20 level I & II, Youth Summer Program. I recommend this school for its dedication to safety, strong curriculum, and thoughtful approach. It is hard initially, but instructors will teach you how to sail, rig, and de-rig boats and how to navigate traffic. OCC School has great instructors and a community. I highly recommend this place for sailors of all levels.
The boy participated in the summer sailing camp organized by this school. The staff are friendly and professional; the facilities are great. For parents waiting here, there is also a terrace with a good view, which is wonderful. I like it here, continue to participate in a week of camping, I will recommend it to my friends, and participate in it next year LOL
This is a great place to learn to sail or powerboat in boats from 10 feet to over 50 feet long. I just love the team that keep us winning, reaching new goals and guiding us through new on the water experiences
