Newport Harbor Yacht Club
Newport Harbor Yacht Club · Private
Newport Harbor Yacht Club's junior sailing program, known as Non-Calm, teaches Newport Harbor youth from sailing fundamentals through national-level racing, moving sailors from Naples Sabots into CFJs and C420s under a full-time director and coaching staff. The summer program ran June 15 to July 23, 2026, and winter and spring sessions keep sailors progressing through the school year. The program is not open enrollment: it is available only to the immediate children of club members, and families seeking entry must pursue a Junior Membership, a process the club says can take several months.

Powered by GoogleNewport Harbor Yacht Club is one of the most storied and prestigious private clubs in all of Southern California. Founded in 1916, NHYC has a legacy of competitive sailing that's unmatched on the West Coast — the club has produced Olympic sailors and hosted countless world-class regattas, including multiple Transpacific Yacht Races and Congressional Cup events. The facility itself sits in prime position along Newport Bay with views of the harbor that are simply breathtaking. As an OC real estate broker, NHYC memberships come up regularly in conversations with high-net-worth clients considering Newport Beach properties. The club represents the pinnacle of the Newport Harbor boating culture — an aspect of OC life that's genuinely unique and deeply woven into the community's identity. The clubhouse, dining facilities, and dock amenities are all maintained at the highest standard you'd expect from a club of this caliber. The social calendar is robust, the racing program is world-class, and the sense of community among members is something you simply don't find at newer or more commercial marinas. For clients who are serious sailors or aspire to be part of Newport's sailing heritage, NHYC is the pinnacle. A true institution of the OC lifestyle.
Very elegant, and it is a private club, the view is very nice
One of the nicest yacht clubs in area. Beautiful dining room and bar area. Can eat in or outside on deck area. Food is exceptionally good and they have great wines. Private club service is impeccable.
Giving this place 5 stars because they allow your dogs on the boat! I would recommend going during the week if you can. It’s a lot quieter and you get most of the water to yourself. They have speakers you can borrow for music but I would recommend taking your own. The speakers are not the best quality so the sound is not that great. And they also allow food and alcohol :)
A beautiful place to hang out, whether you are with friends or family
