The Hyannis Youth & Community Center is a 105,000-square-foot Town of Barnstable facility at 141 Bassett Lane, run by the Barnstable Recreation Division, and it is the registration home and base for the town's Summer Leisure Program — an all-day camp for children entering grades 1-8. The Leisure Program runs Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm for seven weeks, June 29 to August 14, 2026 (no program July 4), filling days with games, creative activities, beach trips and field trips; the fee is $1,400 and financial aid is available to qualifying households. Barnstable Recreation runs a large slate of separate summer offerings out of the HYCC and town beaches, including swim and sailing lessons, tennis, volleyball, dance, arts and crafts, a free youth police academy and free drop-in Wacky Wednesdays. Non-residents may register at a later date and pay doubled fees, and a completed packet with a physical and vaccination records is required.

Think about going frequently until I remember the smell of hockey gear. Think about going to free skate regularly but oh crap, there's a hockey game. I can go Wednesday at 12pm to open skate? Great! ★★★★★Kevin DiMarzioHyannis Youth arena is a great spot to catch a hockey game. The stands are high and the ice is recessed so there isn’t a bad view in the rink. You can also watch from inside the warm area through some of the windows. There are table tops there with stools. They also have a snack bar that offers a wide variety of food and drink. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area. It’s conveniently located off the highway and offers a large parking lot.

The facility arguably is the 2nd or 3rd best on Cape Cod and it is well maintained. The ice quality is below average versus other rinks such as Falmouth Arena, Tony Kent, etc. There frequently are divets or creases in the ice.
