Hastings Lake YMCA is a branch of the nonprofit YMCA of Metro Chicago at 1995 Grass Lake Rd. in Lindenhurst, and one of more than fifteen Y sites running Y Summer Camp. Traditional camp days include an opening circle, snack, physical activity, experiential learning, lunch, choice time and a closing circle, often with swimming and on-site or off-site field trips; specialty camps cover STEAM topics such as tinkering, robotics, cooking and detective work, and sports and aquatics camps follow their own curriculums. Camp runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with before care (7-9 a.m.) and after care (4-6 p.m.) included at no extra cost; camps are ACA-accredited, financial assistance and CCAP are accepted, and an inclusion team supports campers with disabilities.

★Kristy Borges**This review is regarding the Teen Summer Camp only**. I signed my son up for the Teen Summer Camp and paid $300 in deposits. He's 13 years old. One day was all it took to decide not to send him back. He felt bored throughout the day. They played games here and there but nothing engaging. I picked him up during swim time and found him sitting out. It was crowded and chaotic. A schedule was provided to the kids however, it appeared to be appropriate for younger children (6-7 year olds) and not teens. There was no communication or information pertaining to upcoming field trips given to parents. I sent a 14-day written notice to withdraw my son and apparently it went to a dead email address. (Don't email the Hastingslake email address). After 48 hours, I emailed the director and got an apology and sorry it didn't work out. They could have reached out and offered a voucher or opportunity to sign up for another teen program, but nothing! They did not care at all! I wrote this review to offer our insight to other parents who might be curious to know what the Y has to offer. We were disappointed but life goes on!

I just wish they would expand the building to make the workout area larger, maybe a second floor for cardio.. and add group ex studios in the main building. Current cabins they're held in are way too small and always smell like mildew and kitty litter.
★★★★★Helen EOne of the nicest YMCAs we have been to and are now members of. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The facilities are clean and the pool is very nice. The facility itself is really nice and set off of the main traffic area back in a wooded area so the scenery is nice. The membership pricing is super affordable for larger families. The swim lessons have been great also, super affordable and my kids love being in the water during the winter! Just an update to rave about the fabulous staff again. The front desk and all the people coordinating swim lessons are so helpful!
