Buehler YMCA
Private
Buehler YMCA is a branch of the nonprofit YMCA of Metro Chicago at 1400 W. Northwest Hwy. in Palatine, and one of more than fifteen Y sites running Y Summer Camp. Traditional camp days include an opening circle, snack, physical activity, experiential learning, lunch, choice time and a closing circle, often with swimming and on-site or off-site field trips; specialty camps cover STEAM topics such as tinkering, robotics, cooking and detective work, and sports and aquatics camps follow their own curriculums. Camp runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with before care (7-9 a.m.) and after care (4-6 p.m.) included at no extra cost; camps are ACA-accredited, financial assistance and CCAP are accepted, and an inclusion team supports campers with disabilities.

Powered by GoogleI absolutely love the Buehler YMCA! I've been a member for over 2 years and my family has been pretty involved. My toddler attends gymnastics classes, I regularly go to the fitness center and also enjoy personal training services (Erin is the best!) and recently had an amazing birthday party for my son in their child care area that everyone enjoyed. Highly recommended! My only suggestion is to talk with the staff before finalizing any swim classes for your kids, ask them about the ages of the other kids in the class. They organize them by skill level regardless of age, and my sensitive 3 year old was placed in an intro class with some much bigger kids. When it came time to splash around in the water, the bigger kids (understandably) splashed like crazy and scared my son, and he refused to ever go back in the water. We switched him to a class with kids his age (didn't know to ask about that) and he still refused to go in the water despite the instructor's best efforts. So, remember to ask about the ages of the other kids in the class you're interested in. It never occurred to me to do this.
A fantastic community center with something for everyone. The pool is spacious and clean, the weight room has modern equipment, and the group fitness classes are energetic and well-instructed. Great childcare options make it easy for parents to workout. More than a gym—it's a hub.
A huge YMCA with Aerobics, Cycling,Personal training, Private lessons, Swimming lap pool and warm instructional pool, Youth classes, Day Care, Functional Fitness, and Strength Training. Sprawling building takes some searching around. Men's locker room on second floor, women's and family on first floor. Plenty of parking. Lots of steps with ramp into the main entrance. Handicapped parking nearby.
I would like to share my experience with the Day Care Center where my daughter started attending preschool in January 2025. Firstly, I must commend the facility itself. It is a large complex that prioritizes cleanliness and maintains an optimal temperature and humidity level, creating a very comfortable environment for children. The staff at this center is exceptional. Starting with Jenn Stricker, who is always friendly and approachable, keeping her door open for communication with parents. The support staff is equally welcoming, always greeting us and showing kindness towards the children. I particularly want to highlight my daughter's teacher, Annie Yung. She has a professional approach to teaching and has managed to connect with my daughter very well, especially since we moved from Ukraine, and she had limited English skills. Annie has found effective ways to engage my daughter, and she now happily expresses her thoughts and wishes in English. The children learn various songs in class, which my daughter loves to sing at home. Annie provides useful materials that teach children essential life skills, such as friendly phrases and safety rules, which my daughter remembers well. There is also a second teacher, Miss Ariel, who contributes greatly to the learning environment. The classroom is well-organized; even with 10 or more children, they are separated into different zones so they can focus on various activities without disturbing each other. On Fridays, the children have swimming lessons with a coach, which greatly benefits their health and emotional well-being. There is also a covered playground and gym for sports activities. Additionally, I appreciate how Annie keeps us informed through an app, sharing daily updates and pictures of our daughter’s activities. The level of professionalism displayed by the educators is remarkable. They engage the kids in exciting and developmental activities, making them eager to attend preschool every day. In conclusion, I am extremely satisfied with the Day Care Center and would highly recommend it to other parents.
Very nice YMCA with lots of options. Fitness equipment is in very good condition and looks to be well taken off. A couple platforms with racks for the heavy weight lifters. Locker rooms are dated, yet include a sauna and steam room. Two midsize pools along with a very nice large play area for children. Great area for gymnastics along with three basketball courts and an elevated running track. Two functioning racket ball courts along with several others that have been converted to various types of studios. The building is a bit choppy and as first-time visitors it was a challenge to find certain areas. Staff was very friendly and overall a very pleasant atmosphere.
