The Association of the Cotuit Mosquito Yacht Club runs an instructional sailing program on Cotuit Bay where children start as young as 8 in Optimist prams and progress to 420s and traditional Cotuit skiffs. Beyond the learn-to-sail classes, the program includes an Opti racing team, a Junior Sailing Program introducing Lasers, 420s and Cotuit skiffs for sailors who finish Opti 3 but aren't racing-focused, and a 420 racing team, with a club race series for the 16-and-under crowd. Founded by juniors, the club is still run entirely by young men and women age 25 and under.
