Camp Timber Lake was an absolutely incredible experience for our boys. This was our first year and it was their longest and furthest overnight camp. They were definitely nervous. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and enthusiasm of the staff was clear, and that positive energy carried through the entire two weeks they were away from home. Camp Director John sets the tone with his leadership, creating a safe, nurturing environment for every camper. Especially for our kids who may feel a bit insecure and really need a cheerleader in their corner. Our two boys came home with unforgettable memories and genuine friendships. They felt seen, supported, and encouraged every step of the way and they are still talking about it. The counselors truly made a lasting impact, each one brought compassion, patience, and joy to their roles, and it made all the difference. It can’t be said way keeping up that level of energy nonstop and all I hear is how supported my boys felt. And how they were allowed and encouraged to be BOYS. We are so grateful to Camp Timber Lake for giving our kids a summer they will never forget. Can’t wait for next year!

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Camp Timberlake for Boys is the best traditional boys camp in the country. Of course, Timberlake has all the things that typically come to mind when you think of summer camp: a lake, an archery range, rustic cabins, beautiful mountains, I could go on and on, they're all there, and they are wonderful, but I concede it may be possible to find those tangible objects and features at other summer camps. However, it is impossible that any other camp can match what Timberlake can offer if you look at its combination of small size, incredible facilities, quality of staff, personalized attention, and off-property trips. Timberlake maxes out at a little over 100 boys per session, and with this small size, it would be logical to think that the property is small and there is not a huge variety of camp activities. But that could not be further from the truth. Camp is on a vast sprawling property in the middle of Black Mountain, N.C., and it has just about any activity you could possibly imagine. I would implore you to check out the website for a list of all the activities and to look at a map of everything camp has to offer, I think you will be blown away by everything it has for such a relatively small group of boys. I have touched on the facilities already, but they truly are some of the best you will find in the country. Moving onto the staff, the second you walk onto property, the quality of the staff will be on display. You will be greeted with a barrage of "Yes Sirs" and "Yes Ma'ams" that might seem to good to be true. These counselors are incredibly courteous and polite with the parents and the boys, but they are also fun, daring, adventurous, and will challenge your son to be the best that he can possibly be. Just the list of colleges that these counselors attend is extremely impressive! And the staff is always there to provide as much personal attention as your son will need. If your son has to take a series of medicines at different hours of the day, they are all over it. If your son absolutely has to put on sunscreen every time he goes outside, the staff will not miss an opportunity. If there is a major dietary concern, the staff will make sure your son is consistently well nurtured. With the small size, the amount of personalized attention and care that the staff can give to the boys is unmatched. And briefly, Timberlake offers any type of outdoor trip you could imagine, from beginning hiking to challenging kayaking, there is something for everyone and camp offers trips for boys of all ages and skill levels. I could not recommend this place enough.
