Camp Midtown is the summer day camp at Midtown Athletic Club's Chicago location on Elston Avenue, where campers rotate through games and sports across the club - pool, tennis courts and gym - with the club's coaches and camp counselors. The program runs all summer long and sits alongside the club's junior tennis, youth swim and basketball offerings. Age-specific programs range from Tennis Explorers for 3- and 4-year-olds to a youth basketball camp for ages 8 to 15. It is a private membership club, and camp is oriented to member families.

Couldn’t agree more with the recent posters - as a long time member of this gym, it has gotten oversold and caters too heavily to families with little kids. Cardio machines are harder to get at peak times, classes often over crowded they continue to reduce ellipticals and raise monthly prices every year. The new 3% fee on credit cards is disappointing. The men’s steam room is frequently out of order recently and concerns / complaints go unanswered by management. It is a shame - as this gym is my second home, instructors are great.

Midtown Athletic Club has excellent facilities with nice newer equipment and an impressively clean environment throughout the club. The space itself is attractive and well maintained, and there’s a lot to appreciate from an amenities standpoint. That said, the biggest issue is overcrowding. During peak daytime hours and especially on weekends, the gym can become almost unusable due to the volume of members. Considering the eye-wateringly high membership cost, it can feel frustrating to constantly navigate packed workout areas and a somewhat overly curated social atmosphere. Honestly, if there were an Equinox location closer to me, I would probably choose that instead. It feels like better overall value for the money and generally less flooded with people while still attracting a similar clientele. I would genuinely love to see Midtown place greater control on membership volume so the experience better matches the premium pricing and positioning.

The facilities are beautiful and always clean. There are a wide variety of classes at all times- all of which are great. That said, as a single member, it is exorbitantly priced. We pay nearly half the membership fee of a family membership as 1 person. Nearly everything at the club feels catered towards families with little restrictions. Kids have very little restrictions at the pool in the summer, making it extremely difficult to even use the pool due to the volume of families and limitations of chairs (and the staff not enforcing the 21+ area), nor can adults bring guests on the weekends despite there being no limit on children on the family membership. It is IMPOSSIBLE to book a tennis court or a lesson- they are always taken or no coaches available. I literally had a coach tell me that he had no idea why they had scheduled me with him- his roster was full and not to book with him again. Additionally, my membership has increased $80 (25% increase from the initial monthly rate) in the last 3 years with no additional amenities for me. My guest passes remain the same (3 per year), my access remains the same, and the limitation of weekend guests remains the same.

This club used be so great before Covid, but unfortunately, it's kinda gone downhill. The biggest change is that they absolutely oversold their membership because of how slow it was during Covid, and it's noticeable. Parking used to be abundant in the garage, and now it feels sometimes impossible to get. Classes get full easily. Trying to find a time for the pool lane indoors fills out so quickly. They charge you FOR EVERYTHING on top of paying roughly $300 per month for a single membership. Oh you like playing tennis? They'll charge you $45 in the winter to play for every court booking. You wanna take their tennis classes-- great. Spend an additional $600 for 1x a week for 8 weeks, when there are places that charge way less. And if you're interested in going for the outdoor pool-- forget it. Not only is it absolutely crowded every single time, but it is filled with kids and they are there all the time. They have adult swimming after 8pm (when the sun has set) and only have very few selected hours for adults only. I kid you not, I went to Hamlin Park to the pool just to test it out and it was (1) less crowded (2) kids were on one side of the pool and plenty of space for adults. And it's free. The kids are what essentially made me quit this gym and I could not be happier elsewhere. This gym has made itself into a family gym because they charge more for their family memberships. And let me remind you, these are not regular kids. These are kids from rich families that have no boundaries, no manners, and scream at every little inconvenience. You will hear them everywhere. If you don't have kids, do yourself a favor and either to go to East Bank or Lifetime. Way better experience. If you like Tennis, I'd recommend doing Tennis on the Lake, that is cheaper and an overall better experience. Midtown is just not it.

My experience at Midtown has been amazing. Good amount of workout machines, very clean, great staff, great cocktails for those days 😀. The staff at the the front desk lobby makes me feel welcome at all the time. The staff at the spa is wonderful, my hairstylist Rebecca she AWESOME!!! I would love to try all the classes, but I’m too busy, hopefully one day though 😉. Thank you to the team who makes all the things possible and kept us safe and healthy throughout the pandemic. THANK YOU!!
