Grand Traverse Bay YMCA (Central)
Private
The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA runs summer day camp five days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. across ten weeks, mid-June through late August. Families choose among several tracks: K-Camp for children entering kindergarten, with theme-based enrichment, group games, hands-on experiments, arts and crafts and swimming; a Science and Nature Camp built on nature hikes, wildlife observation, environmental science experiments and eco-friendly crafts; and a Sports Camp focused on fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship through guided drills. Registration paperwork is due before May 1 and weeks fill quickly.

Powered by GoogleI swim 3miles a week and do a water exercise class a few times a month with Mary at the Central. Susan at the front desk is amazing, professional but kind. The guards are always scanning and the pool is clean. The locker room is as clean as an old building locker room can be. Love the YMCA🐝🐝
We go to the Central location at the Civic Center. The new equipment in the work out room is awesome! Susan and staff are a delight. Pool is a bit busy, particularly when the Coast Guard is using half the pool, but still, a great facility and resource!
This was our first visit at Central. The machines were in excellent condition. The facility was very clean. The pool was very nice. We were only disappointed in the fact that there wasn’t a hot tub to relax our muscles before heading home.
Outta towner that loves checking out different YMCAs and their saunas. This is the second time I visited here in the last year or 2 and the front desk staff (Rachel and Leo) could not have been more welcoming. It's so nice to feel like you're at your hometown facility right when you walk in the door 🙏🌹
Love the location, parking is always easy when I go. Susan at the front desk is awesome, always has a friendly greeting and is happy to help members with any issues. The pool is warmer here than at West Y and I like the saltwater. Pool is well-maintained and I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get or share a lane. Fellow swimmers are always friendly. I enjoy the sauna, although it is rather narrow (and might make a difference for some people that it is shared by everyone). The women’s locker room could use a little TLC as well as the shower room, which had an odd scent today. But neither one of these things deter me from enjoying a good swim and getting ready for the day there.
