State YMCA of Michigan
Private
The State YMCA of Michigan operates the YMCA Hayo-Went-Ha Camps: Camp Hayo-Went-Ha for boys, founded in 1904 on 640 acres along Torch Lake in Central Lake, and its sister camp for girls. Both are single-gender overnight camps combining traditional in-camp activities with wilderness travel — cabin groups of eight campers and two leaders take extended canoeing and hiking trips into northern Michigan and the Canadian wilderness, or sail the Great Lakes. Summer sessions run two to four weeks for children in roughly 3rd through 11th grade.
The practical details
We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact State YMCA of Michigan directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.
