The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA runs summer day camp for 10 weeks from mid-June through late August, open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. five days a week. Traditional camps such as K-Camp, for children entering kindergarten, mix theme-based enrichment, group games, sports and fitness, hands-on experiments, arts and crafts and swimming; separate science and nature camps add nature hikes, wildlife observation, environmental science experiments and eco-friendly crafts. Campers must submit a registration packet before May 1, and demand is heavy - the Y's 2025 summer camp weeks sold out in about ninety seconds. Camp operates from 3700 Silver Lake Rd. in Traverse City.
