Girls in the Game is a Chicago nonprofit that runs a four-week Sports & Leadership Summer Camp for girls ages 7 to 13, held at Moore Park (5085 W Adams) with Chicago Jesuit Academy as the inclement-weather site. Campers try a range of sports in a friendly, non-competitive setting — lacrosse, basketball, dance, yoga and swimming — alongside guest coaches, health education, leadership practice such as self-advocacy and positive body image, time with teen leaders and an end-of-camp talent show. The camp runs July 6 to July 31, Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm, and the organization keeps it deliberately low-cost; bus transportation is not provided and campers bring their own lunch. Teen girls aged 14 to 15 can instead join Summer Squad, a paid leadership program in which they learn to coach younger participants.
