West Cook YMCA's Adventure Camp is a ten-week day camp, June 8 to August 14, for campers ages 5 to 13 at 255 S. Marion St. in Oak Park. Campers are grouped into three age cohorts; days open with a community meeting, rotate through activity and learning stations with shared responsibilities like lunch prep, and close with an all-camp circle. Campers swim at the Y on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and take a field trip each Tuesday; staffing runs at least 1:10 with two counselors per group, families pack a nut-free lunch, and photo ID is required at pickup.

Small facility, limited options. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE A SWIMMER. The pool schedule on the website is completely inaccurate. I was a member here for 3 months. Every day I would check the site to see if the pool was open. See that it was, get there and there was some event closing the entire pool. Then when summer hits, the pool is essentially closed from 8am -6pm. When I tried to discuss this with management, I got the same corporate answers you get everywhere else. Really disappointed, used to loving going to YMCAs. Seriously, dont waste your money here. Amending this to say that the management essentially stated that the reason that the pool has to be booked for summer camps the entire day (with not even an hour open for lap swim) is because they are serving the "community" I live two blocks away from the YMCA and I'm not exactly certain why I don't fall under the "community" the YMCA serves but whatever. Cant emphasize enough how arrogant and smug the manager was about this.

Love WEST COOK YMCA!! Coach Beth is the best all the staff in extremely friendly specially Kevin he is awesome. Always goes out out of his way to help you no matter what it is. I’ve been going there for four years. I have never once felt that I was bothering him in anyway, even if the questions were silly, he is a stellar employee and truly cares about people and his job!!

I like how clean this YMCA is compared to a few others that I’ve visited. Machines are always available. Never crowded in the afternoon.

I visited the YMCA in Oak Park today to try out the gym and facilities, and I was very impressed. The staff at the front desk were friendly, helpful, and accommodating as soon as I walked in — a great first impression. I used both the steam room and the sauna, and they were clean, relaxing, and perfectly warm. The YMCA also has two basketball courts and a running track located above one of the courts. The gym itself is fully equipped with all major machines, plenty of cardio options, and an excellent variety of weight equipment. They even have handball courts. The swimming pool is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. For everything this YMCA offers, the monthly membership price is the best in the area. Considering the wide range of amenities, I think it’s an amazing value for Oak Park. I am definitely considering becoming a member, and if you live in the area, this is absolutely a place worth checking out.
