My husband and I came ready to join today. The jaw droopingly rude and sarcastic attitude of Jaleesa at the front desk lost this location two new members. Whoever manages this location needs to consider how they want this gym represented by their staff.

Great classes. Great music at the outdoor pool. Saturdays have been really challenging to find parking. I'm not sure where the "across the street parking is but give yourself plenty of time and patiently wait for someone to leave if you need to be there Saturday morning. Posting pic of at least one vehicle that was taking up 4 spots. When you miss your class because there's no parking and you're driving in circles for half an hour you wonder why vehicles are allowed to claim more than their fair share

Terrible experience!! We called this Y before driving the 30 minutes from our house to swim. We tried the aquatic extension and got no answer. Spoke with front desk who assured us that the pool would be open until 6pm. We asked her to double check and she again assured us. Well, we arrive at 4:45 and sure enough, “closed due to not enough life guards.” Wow! Just wow!! This is beyond frustrating as we arranged our day around this, spent an hour+ of dribe time and now can’t swim until Tuesday. Had we been informed, we could have chosen a different Y location but now, all are closed. They need to care about guests and respect their time and hire “enough lifeguards” and notify the app, front desk etc well in advance of changes. We will not be returning to this facility most likely as we did all we could to ensure this didnt happen and yet it did. And, Please do not respond with some type of “sorry for the inconvenience” type of B S. If you are indeed “sorry” then don’t let this continue to occur.

I have been a member of this gym for about four, going on five, years. When I first joined, it was a great experience. I was paired with an excellent trainer, and Tracie was a great gym manager who actually listened and got things done. Unfortunately, over time the constant membership price increases and the lack of new or updated gym equipment have made it clear that continuing my membership is no longer a smart decision. Additionally, I have been disappointed by how certain serious issues have been handled by management. A friend of mine reported multiple times that an employee was displaying inappropriate sexual behavior toward them, and nothing was done about it. Situations like that should be taken seriously and addressed immediately. It also does not help that this YMCA has developed a reputation as a “cruising spot.” A quick look online, including on sites like Sniffies, makes that reputation clear. Whether or not management is aware of it, this kind of environment reflects poorly on the facility. Looking back, I should have brought more of these concerns directly to Tracie, as she was the only person in a leadership role who consistently listened and followed through. For these reasons, I will be canceling my membership.

I have been a member at the ymca for over ten years and this was by far the worst gym experience I have ever had in my life, and I will never be a YMCA member again. During my visit to the Southeast Raleigh YMCA, an employee named Walter behaved in a way that I found extremely rude, unprofessional, and invasive. While I was using the sauna, he physically opened the door and forced me to leave, completely disturbing my privacy. I was spoken to in a hostile and disrespectful tone, and the interaction felt like verbal abuse, not customer service. At no point was the situation handled calmly or respectfully. Instead, the behavior was repeated, aggressive, and unnecessary. As a paying member, I felt humiliated and unwelcome in a space that is supposed to be safe and respectful. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable from any gym, especially one that claims to stand for community and wellness. Staff should be trained to handle situations professionally and with basic human decency — that clearly did not happen here. I am canceling my membership and will not be returning. I would strongly caution others to think twice before joining if this is how members are treated.
