The Northwest Cary YMCA runs YMCA of the Triangle summer day camps, including Camp Outer Limits and Camp Expedition for rising K-8 graders (often based at Mills Park Middle School), a weekly Sports Camp, and preschool half-day Kindercamp and Wee Camp. It also offers Camp GRACE, a day camp designed for children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental needs. Days center on games, sports, and skill-building.

I’ve been to a bunch of YMCAs around the Triangle, and Northwest is the one I keep coming back to. It’s close, it has everything I need and then some, and the overall vibe is just easy to like.

Very disappointed with Northwest Cary YMCA. The equipment is outdated and frequently out of service, which makes workouts frustrating and inconvenient. Maintenance overall seems poor, and repairs take too long. Locker availability near the gym area is limited, especially during peak hours. On top of that, the facility frequently closes due to minor weather forecasts, which is extremely inconvenient for members who rely on consistent access. Considering the membership cost, the quality of facilities and services does not justify the price. Definitely expected much better for what they charge

One Life Fitness open, O2 Fitness Clubs... ALL open on Monday. NW Cary YMCA closed till Tuesday NOON. Other clubs open to serve their clients. No refunds. Not this one. Wonder why the folks are going somewhere else.

Used to be good but now all the equipment is outdated, way too many members for such a small facility, people are ALWAYS there and it’s so packed. I have to wait 10 minutes for one machine, and they’re just putting more members on still. Equipment is old and often breaks down

Save yourself the trip. This YMCA is showing its age and feels increasingly outdated. While it technically gets the job done, the weight room and gym layout are poorly designed; equipment is placed way too close together, making the space feel cramped and inefficient. They really need to consider expanding the floor plan. Additionally, while the basketball courts are decent for now, the facility needs significant updates soon. If they don’t make changes in the next 2-3 years, I’m not sure this location will remain competitive.
