Powered by GoogleSandra Davis was dismissive, unhelpful, and unprofessional throughout our interaction. Basic questions were met with attitude rather than assistance. Customer service should make people feel welcome, and unfortunately that was not my experience.
I typically don’t like leaving negative reviews but the health club has really gone down hill since YMCA purchased Omni. I was a long time member of Omni before ymca purchased. One of the main issues is the health club has so many members now, the facility cannot properly accommodate everyone. So many memberships have been sold, the facilities exercise equipment just can’t support the crowds. Excessive wait times to use equipment, just isn’t a pleasant experience anymore. It’s really a shame. it’s been so bad lately these youths of today are now coming up To other members while using the exercise equipment and telling them they were using the equipment, when they clearly were not. Either someone is using the exercise equipment or they are not, simple as that. If the equipment isn’t being used, it’s open for people to use. I have yet to see any ghosts using exercise equipment. So, if the exercise equipment is open and someone starts to use it, no one should be allowed to step up to guests telling them they were using the equipment and proceed to take the exercise equipment over from someone else. I have seen it happen multiple times recently for myself. I tried talking to staff but they clearly don’t care. Went to front counter, no help. Tried membership desk, got me no-where. No manager to be found. Seeing the demeanor of the staff, I would be surprised if speaking to a manager would even help. Clear lack of leadership. The facility allowing this to occur is unacceptable! Anyone essentially kicking someone off the exercise equipment, should be grounds for being removed from the health-club , period. Between seeing this type of behavior allowed and the excessive wait times for exercise equipment, I believe it’s best to just move on. Since YMCA doesn’t seem to care much for their members, I will just seek membership elsewhere. Really a shame, the place has a lot of potential but just isn’t managed properly. I would highly recommend just avoiding the place all together and going elsewhere, as will I.
I love CRYMCA! Two issues- They run out of hand towels too often on the upper level treadmill area. Also, when machines breakdown it becomes a long wait for repair. My favorite treadmills are located on ground level floor. Great for intense training due to the steeper incline. Unfortunately one has been down for over 2 months. The other recently broke down. Hope CRYMCA can remedy it quickly.
Great gym & sauna. They have egym. excited to see what the new expansion will be. Clean locker room too
I used to work at the YMCA on North Ave in Chicago and I can tell you, this Schererville YMCA is in a league of it's own. It is massive, clean, and has competent staff in all facilities (which is unheard of). They have a children's daycare center where kids can play while parents go take a class or hit the gym. My children love it there and now have their own little friend group. The lockers are big and have digit combination locks so you don't need to bring your own lock. Each locker room has a jacuzzi, steam room, showers, and sauna. The gym is simply the best I've been to, it has a separate elevated floor for cardio, a separate space for floor exercised with Jacob's ladders, and plenty of weights for everyone. They're also expanding which I can't wait to see! My kids also do the swim classes here which I would recommend for beginners. My kids are 4 & 5 and they're slowly becoming more comfortable and confident in the water.
