The Rochester Canoe Club is an informal, member-owned family sailing club on the western shore of Irondequoit Bay (the 'canoe' name is historical; it is a sailing club promoting one-design sailing and racing). Youth learn-to-sail classes at the site are run by partner nonprofit ROC City Sailing, which offers beginner sailing sessions for ages 8-17 with certified instructors, group classes running late June through July plus private and small-group sessions across the summer. ROC City Sailing offers scholarships for Rochester City School District students and a sailing counselor-in-training track. The club itself is open to the public Sundays 11am-4pm April through October.
