Northwest Maritime is a nonprofit maritime center on the Port Townsend waterfront running seven weeks of summer day camps for ages 5-17, alongside school-year youth activities, a high school sailing team and career training. Li'l Scuppers (ages 5-7) is a three-hour half-day morning camp built around a morning circle, getting out on the boats to row, sail or drive a power boat, beach exploring and scavenger hunts; Junior Discoverers (ages 7-10) is a full-day camp from 9:00am to 4:00pm using the campus as a launch point for discovering sea life; and older kids build on-the-water skills in Youth Learn to Sail camps. Scholarships are offered to families facing financial barriers as well as to youth service organizations, schools and underserved youth.
