Private

Bremerton Yacht Club's junior sail camps teach seamanship, boat handling, sailing knots and right-of-way rules on Phinney Bay, with youth ages 8-12 in single-handed Dewitt dinghies and teens ages 12-16 on larger, faster boats as both skipper and crew. Week-long camps run Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm, in several sessions across the summer, and each week opens with a capsize drill teaching self-rescue and staying with the boat. US Sailing certified instructors lead the classes, camps are open to the public, and scholarships are available for families who demonstrate financial need.

This camp is very affordable, pandemic friendly and empowering to young kids interested in learning to sail. We so appreciate this resource in Kitsap and the sailing experts willing to contribute their time to teaching the next generation about the joy of sailing and water safety. Thank you to BYC for providing this to our community! We so look forward to sailing camp again this year.
