Olympia Community Sailing is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs summer sailing camps on Budd Inlet for ages 6 to 18, from first-timers through racers. Harbor Mice (ages 6-7) introduces the youngest sailors aboard small boats with games and crafts; Keelboat Adventure and the Youth beginner, intermediate and advanced classes (ages 8-12) teach rigging, steering, sail trim and capsize recovery, progressing to solo sailing in Optis; Ocean Explorers (8-12) pairs sailing with STEAM and citizen science such as plankton monitoring and ROVs; and Teen classes (13-18) sail two-person 420s in evening sessions alongside the high school race team. Swimming is required for most youth and teen classes and life jackets are worn at all times. Tuition can be paid in full or held with a $50 deposit, and the organization offers scholarships to any student on free or reduced lunch.

Powered by GoogleA great sailing program dedicated to providing youth sailing opportunities for all skill levels as well as growing community access to the water. My daughter started with the learn to sail programming run in conjunction with the Olympia Parks and Rec. dept and has progressed on to a high school team. Such a great community of kids, adults and coaches.
Great organization dedicated to growing community access to youth sailing. My son has been participated for years. Not only has he had an amazing time but it has helped him grow in to be a responsible and independent teenager.
This is hands down the best sailing educational program around. The learn to sail and race team options available are unmatched for a community based program. Im told part of their goal is to develop a community based sailing center, which would be amazing! Were extremely lucky to have this resource in Olympia.
Great program that makes sailing widely accessible. The sailing camps and teams provide a great opportunity to learn and develop not only sailing skills, but leadership skills.
