Music Makers of Western Springs is a full-service music school whose children’s musical theatre program includes summer camps — an “Acting through Song” camp for 4th–7th graders and a “Triple Threat” camp for 3rd–5th graders. The rest of the year it offers private, semi-private and group lessons in piano, guitar, voice, drums, strings, ukulele and more, with two free studio-wide recitals a year and month-to-month enrollment. The school is in Old Town Western Springs and is a partner school for the FHSR “Music To My Ears” scholarship, which funds a year of tuition-free instruction for deaf and hard-of-hearing children. It's a family owned business that has poured their heart and soul into bringing your children the arts. We have four children and taking in a Broadway show can be really cost prohibitive. We are so lucky to have Music Makers theater productions to enjoy! The local theater vibe is so endearing and we've enjoyed so many family nights over the years as members of the audience at a Music Makers musical. We were able to expose our young children to live theater at a fraction of the Broadway price! The caliber of the shows is top-notch. The live music is wonderful and the performances of the young actors are so impressive! Our daughter also participated in the Music Makers production of HAIRSPRAY and really enjoyed the experience. She gravitates towards sports and piano. Trying this helped her step out of her comfort zone and try something new and recognize some talent she didn't even know she had. He went out of his way to help my daughters find specific pieces that challenged them. He even modified an entire song for my oldest daughter. We transitioned to Hope when Marc left a year ago. Hope is also an amazing musician who challenges her students. We also take clarinet and viola lessons with Jeff and Katie who my children adore. Both of them always tailor the lesson to my children's needs and interests. They are always willing to go out of their way to help. We cannot recommend Music Makers enough! We have had a wonderful experience the past four years and we hope to continue lessons there for many more years to come.
