Chicago Music and Acting Academy runs one-week summer theatre camps for ages 5–14 at its Chicago studio: Junior Players (ages 5–8) explores how actors use voice, body and imagination to build a character; Rising Stars (9–11) creates an original story as a group; and a Middle School Intensive (11–14) has students write their own stories and then direct them. Full days run 9:00am–3:00pm ($475) and half days 9:00am–12:00pm or 12:00pm–3:00pm ($250), though the Middle School Intensive is full-day only. Campers bring their own lunch and snacks, and a sibling discount is applied after registration.

My teenager has been working with Lindsay and Tanner since elementary school in productions and vocal/acting lessons. They are now off to the film/performing arts college of their choice (thanks to college entry prep from Downstage Arts) with a solid foundation in singing and acting as well a support base that could not have been stronger. The community created by the CMAA team has been life giving and a second family for both of my kids from its very beginning and I’m so grateful for all that Lindsay, Tanner and Kara have poured into them over many years. CMAA is a place where kids can be and develop their full selves and receive the greatest of cheerleading along the way.

CMAA has been our music and acting home for my daughters for the past few years. Miss Kara has been a wonderful piano and voice teacher and has helped my daughters grow and nurture their talents in a supportive and loving way. I am so happy to have CMAA as part of our overall Jefferson Park community and cannot recommend them highly enough.

We have been going to CMAA since they opened! We love the outstanding growth we have seen in our daughter through voice lessons with Lindsay. We have also enjoyed the many summer camps for both our son and our daughter! Don’t miss out on what CMAA has to offer.

Our daughter began singing lessons about 6 months ago with Lindsay. She gets so excited to go to lessons each week. Her singing as well as her confidence has grown exponentially in that time.

CMAA provides a very supportive environment which also pushes the student to do their best. Students collaborate with staff and can express themselves without judgement. Highly recommended CMAA to any child wanting to hone their acting or singing skills.
