Canandaigua Community Sailing, a 501(c)(3) based at the Canandaigua Yacht Club, offers sailing instruction to both juniors and adults on Canandaigua Lake. Junior students sail two to a boat in the organization's own Sunfish, which carry cut-down sails to make them easier for smaller sailors to handle, and progress to 420s, a two-person self-rescuing dinghy with main, jib and spinnaker. Advanced and Race Week sessions are limited to sailors ten and older who have prior sailing experience and want more advanced and racing instruction.
