The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids runs summer day camp for children ages 5-12 who have completed young fives or kindergarten, at five branch sites (David D. Hunting, Mary Free Bed, SpartanNash, Visser and Wolverine Worldwide) and at school-based sites in Lowell, Caledonia, Holland and Middleville. Camps run Monday through Friday, generally 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., across ten themed weeks from June 8 to August 14, with games, arts and crafts, STEAM, sports, reading, character development and swimming; snacks are provided and campers pack a peanut-free lunch. All day camps are licensed by the State of Michigan, counselors are trained in child protection and CPR/First Aid, and the ratio is 1:10. Weekly rates run $250-$325 depending on site and membership, with 3-day options at several school sites; the association also operates YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin for resident and traditional day camp.

★★Laurie LarsonTwo stars for winter use. The parking ramp is no big deal spring, summer, and fall. But winter is another thing—and we are only 2 snow storms in! The sidewalk on Winter Ave. from the ramp is either spotless—or an icy mess. Guy at the desk said it’s the city’s responsibility, “But we put some salt on it this morning.” Except if it’s for the safety of your members (especially older ones!) wouldn’t you think it would be top priority to keep the walk snow and ice free?! Hated the brush off and lack of concern. Take care of your people!
★★P BenNo on site parking! And the parking ramp is across the railroad tracks and across the street. I've been charged twice for parking in the ramp and it is supposed to be free. This WAS my favorite gym since 2005. About a year ago they removed an entire row of treadmills and now it's more difficult to find an available treadmill. MVP is looking better everyday. :(
