Verdun Adventure Bound

My son's 5th grade class had their end of the year field trip at Verdun Adventure and it was everything that it should've been and more! They had tons of fun, but they also had to do a lot of team activities that taught good communication, problem solving, and even face their fears head on! All the kids (and chaperones) had a blast! A special shout out to John--our head counselor-- and to Megan and Ava, the other team counselors...they were so patient, kind, and engaging. They were truly amazing! I highly recommend Verdun Adventures for school groups,and since my 2 kids have attended a week of their summer camps last year, I also highly recommend their summer camps. You won't be sorry.

I have gone to verdun various times over the past 2 years. It is a nice site and great place for camping. However I was attending an event recently and had brought my dog. It had never been an issue before so I took him once again. Once I had arrived I got him on his leash as I got him out of the car and tried to walk him. We were near the parking lot and a German shepherd came charging at us from farther than where the dumpster is. The dog was incredibly reactive and immediately went to bite at my dogs throat. In a panic I tried to put myself between the two (not a safe decision looking back but I was not about to let my dog potentially get killed). The German shepherd did everything in its power to push through me and kept biting at my dogs neck and face. This was not playing. I have worked at a dog daycare and can tell the difference. The owner was a staff member and it took some time for her to make it to us because the dog had run such a distance. Overwhelmed I was unable to keep grasp on my dogs leash and he ran over to staff member. The German shepherd then left me to chase after my golden retriever. Private property or not a reactive dog should be on a leash - especially since the site is right off a semi major road with a 55 mile per hour speed limit. Eventually she was able to contain her dog and I was able to rush into the main building where I confused another staff member because I used the wrong door. I've gone through and can't find anything on the website about whether or not dogs are allowed; but I advise any dog owners to go in with the knowledge the staff has unleashed reactive dogs.

We first tried out Verdun in the summer for a week camp. My boys had a BLAST. They always had something to do but had so much doing it. Months later they still tell me how much fun they had doing stuff they’ve never done before, such as ziplining or swimming in the lake. Then just today, we tried out the hayride light show for Christmastime. It is a 10/10 must see!! You can tell the staff put in so much work and effort and it really paid off. Truly a little gem that everyone should take the time to visit. Price is reasonable, food was good, and even the hayride was pretty comfortable! Overall, I couldn’t suggest this place more. They offer a variety of events that your family will love, and the staff really does go above and Beyond in every way imaginable.

I cannot emphasize enough how perfect Verdun is for team building. I came in with a group of teenagers that barely talked to each other and left with a youth group who could not stop talking on the way home and are still hugging and talking to each other weeks after! The staff is AMAZING: so kind, humble, helpful, knowledgeable, and capable of raising anyone's self esteem. In two days, the staff at Verdun did what I could not accomplish in months worth of activities: create a solid group of strong, confident young men and women.
