Phoebe Hall Knipling Outdoor Lab
Private
Overnight nature and science camp on a 311-acre outdoor education property in Broad Run, run by the Arlington Outdoor Education Association. Three week-long residential sessions blend traditional camp activities -- hiking, evening campfires, crafts, skits -- with aquatic studies, natural history and survival skills; campers sleep in platform tents and spend most of the day outdoors. Enrollment is limited to Arlington Public Schools students who have completed grades 4 through 8, who travel out from Arlington on Monday morning and return Friday afternoon.

We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact Phoebe Hall Knipling Outdoor Lab directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

Powered by GoogleGreat walks and nature center. Enjoyed getting our Vitamin N for the day. The open house serves up s'mores over the campfire.
Went here multiple times during class field trips. Easily the best part of school. So much fun!
It was awesome it had what I wanted ❤ and it was a great experience
I went here on field trips as a child and returned as an adult to teach. The ODL has been extremely formative in my youth and my career. It provides access to nature to children who might not otherwise get that opportunity. I am so grateful that the Lab continues to receive support from APS and the Arlington Outdoor Education Association.
Come here every other year since third grade amazing!
