Ninth Street Dance is a Durham studio offering dance and movement classes for all ages, shapes and sizes, spanning ballet and contemporary, hip-hop and break dance, belly dance and Bollywood, and salsa and swing. Its summer session runs June 1 through August 23 as ongoing classes rather than camp weeks; children's classes are deliberately non-competitive, with no elaborate recitals or extra fees. Class times fall in late afternoons and evenings on weekdays.

I've been dancing at Ninth Street Dance for over 17 years and it truly is a wonderful place! It is a fantastic atmosphere for adult dancers (and kids), with caring, insightful instructors. I highly recommend Ninth Street Dance to anyone looking to take classes to brush up their skills, return to dance from an injury or who just want to have a good time!
I had my first Balboa class last week and the teacher, a substitute (Dominic Hanna,) was the best dance teacher I've ever had. Instead of focusing only on steps, he emphasized that dancing is about connection--to the music, to your partner, to the floor--and about feeling. What a great way to introduce a dance form!
If you are looking for a place to take adult tap classes, this studio is worth checking out. In the advanced class, I’m able to brush up on my skills while still learning new things! The instructors are knowledgeable and patient with students and really connect you to the Triangle dance community. Look forward to coming each week!
I found this dance studio back in Jan of 2018 when I decided to try a dance class for the first time ever as my New Year’s resolution. I have been coming here (from Raleigh) ever since! This place is so great! The community is very accepting and so welcoming and I never have to worry about being “judged”. I’ve taken many different classes and enjoyed them all. All the instructors have been great, so patient, and fun! This is a place for all to dance. I’ve made fabulous friendships during my time here and I would not have survived my PhD without these stress-busting dance classes. Thank you Bepi, for all you do in continuing to make this a fun and positive atmosphere!
