I have two children that attend this camp and they both had an awesome time last summer. This will be year three for our family and my kids are already excited. One asked if I could buy her a pair of Ice Skates for their summer ice skating trip, yes, ice skating in summer with a snow ball fight. My younger child started attending last year and from her first day she had nothing but a ball. Everyday they went on a trip, and returned home burned out from the amazing adventures. They also both made a lot of friends which they cant wait to catch up with in a few months. The directors of the camp Dan & Cory are phenomenal people and the camp feels like family, they also know the best playgrounds and spots to take the kids to which gives them a woodsy/ naturalistic experience right outside of the city. They are both educators and most staff have educational backgrounds, so your kids are in good hands and are appropriately cared for by individuals that are in tune with their socio-emotional and developmental needs. There are about six groups of children, separated by age, and they have three chartered buses which take them to and from their daily activities. Honestly, I could go on and on about the awesomeness of this camp and I recommend it to anyone that asks about summer camp. Okay I have to go and reserve my kids spots, right now! Before they are all gone. Sign your kids up and see for yourself, your family wont be disappointed!

Our Top 9 Reasons We and our 3 Boys (ages 5, 8 and 9) loved Kim’s Kids this Summer (2019) 1. Safety first- they truly do worry so we don’t have to. They are as cautious and as a safety- conscious as a mom could wish they’d be! And we trusted them with all three of our little boys, truly putting all our eggs in one basket, sometimes on one bus! But after a couple days I breathed easy because I was happily surprised by their caution while giving the boys an amazing mix of adventures. With so much time at beaches, pools and lakes, the fact that they have a list of strict rules in place to ensure water safety in particular made all the difference for me. Trained lifeguards as the counselors they bring everywhere. Surrounding kids with a ring of counselors in the water at the beach. Kids only allowed in water up to their waist at the beach, lake or pool. Swim tests before being able to go in deeper pool or lake water and still carefully lifeguarded. They even ensure sunscreen is put on a second time each day! 2. Head counselors for each age group are fun, responsible, fully adult teachers who genuinely love kids and take their jobs of delivering a fun, safe day for the kids very seriously 3. CIT program- a real distinctive of this camp. How cool for a grade schooler to have fun tweens and young teenagers giving them the time of day and actually there playing with them, having water gun battles, singing on the bus, giving piggy back rides. And those in these CIT roles actually enjoy the kids and are being given an awesome summer themselves through CIT trips like white-water rafting. Happy people set a happier tone for the kids. Other summers I have *felt* it at so many camps when counselors are hot and miserable and clearly don’t even like kids. They’re there for the paycheck and no more. And the kids felt it too. These Kim’s Kids CITs and counselors feel like fun friends to them. It changes everything. 4. The very reasonable camp cost plus the rare flexibility of number of camp days per week makes it MUCH more economical for larger families vs other insanely priced camps and allows for summer travel without wastefully paying for missed camp days 5. Flexibility of daily schedule based on weather. During this summer’s heat wave, hiking days were turned to beach days or lake days or water play days to prevent misery for kids and counselors and heat exhaustion/dehydration worry for parents. Rainy days became trips to movies or bowling. So great! Don’t know how they can be so flexible with hundreds of kids and so little advance notice for these venues, but they clearly have a big enough network of connections and strong relationships throughout the 5 boroughs after 25+ years of camp that they make it happen! Sooo much happier than sending the boys out for an 8-hour day in the sun during a heat wave because that’s just where the camp is everyday rain or shine. Or keeping them stuck inside for a STEM camp when it’s gorgeous outside and they just want to play in the sun. 6. Quality overall - the buses are air conditioned, newer versions of school buses which means safer, smoother and cooler. And the same nice drivers stay the whole summer and clearly like being with the camp as well! My kids hate most bus rides through school because they’re hot and so bumpy. Neither were true at camp! And all the venues were fun, safe and enjoyable for the kids. Plus, during down times the counselors taught them songs, played group games, etc. 7. Directors of the camp are lovely people and send their own grandchildren to the camp. My 5-year old came home calling the Camp Director Uncle Dan on Day One! He plays with the kids and chats with the parents. Doesn’t feel like a business like so many other camps. 8. Sibling discount - this helped us send all three of our boys! 9. Every day for four weeks of camp, all three of my very different boys LOVED camp. Something I thought was impossible! We will absolutely be back next year! Thank you, Kim’s Kids!!

My kids LOVE this camp! After a few years of expensive science and art camps where the kids are inside much of the day and come home unhappy, we found Kim's Kids and have never had to think about what camp to sign up for again. They are outside every day, often all day. The staffing set up is fantastic - teachers lead each small group of kids and then teenagers and "counselors in training" provide back up. They also travel with their own life guards. Its pretty reasonably priced compared to other camps, and flexible about how many days you can attend. Highly recommended!
