YMCA Camp Michikamau is a traditional overnight camp on the shores of Lake Kanawauke in Harriman State Park, near Tuxedo/Southfields, with over 100 years of history on the site. Campers entering 3rd through 10th grade, roughly ages 8-17, take part in rock climbing, low ropes and team-building challenges, swim lessons, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, hiking, archery and arts and crafts, plus an evening activity each night such as a campfire, talent show or scavenger hunt. Sessions run two weeks: the first week introduces all activities and the second lets campers choose the ones they want to focus on.

I rated this camp a 1 star because this camp is not the way it promotes its self. First I was in a cabin and I was put into the middle age cabin This cabin was in very poor condition. There was no lights apart from this single light bulb that barely dim the room, so you really couldn’t see anything in your room. Also since I was in the cabin with the middle girls, they wouldn’t let you shower at night so that means after a long day of sweating and getting dirty you would have to get in your pajamas and sleep like that until the next morning where you can only have a five minute shower to wash off yesterday’s and that night sweat and dirt I felt really disgusting going to sleep like that. Second they really don’t do anything about fighting. If you get into a physical altercation with someone you can fight in front of them they will not do a single thing they will stand there and watch until you actually get hurt until you’re on the floor crying or bleeding, then they will actually do something, but if you’re just fighting throwing punches or slapping, they will not do anything. At this camp, there were some counselors who were incredibly rude, and there was some counselors who were extremely nice, but there was only one counselor in particular who was extremely nice to me, and that was Nate He never yelled at me unless he actually had it to which he never did. He always understood where I was coming from and Was really professional with his words, but there was this other counselor who I had the biggest problem with at camp this counselor‘s name was Cecilia I’m gonna call her CC for short. Ever since I was younger, I’ve always had a problem with my anger and my attitude as I got older I’ve learned how to deal with it and not to lash out on people And I know how to talk to people when I was upset or when a situation is happening but as soon as I met this counselor, there was no respect at all at first, I was trying to be respectful and she was a little respectful towards me, but then the more time I spent with her The more meaner she got And since I’ve had a history with getting in trouble a lot at school and just really being “bad” dealing with a counselor like this gets on my nerves I cursed her out multiple times because she had me messed up in every way, cause I’m not the one or the two for her to be speaking to me like that she would Say semi insults to you, she would call you slow she would say that you stink, she would say all sorts of things and that struck a nerve for me so I told her off multiple times I just really did not like her. She would also talk bad about me. She would say I was a bad kid. She would complain to me to the adults and soon enough, I was then kicked out of this camp when I say this camp will never see me again. This camp will never see me again and if they do see me again, I will only come back to troll CC to make her mad But apart from that, the camp was really enjoyable Apart from the fact that they will force you to do all the activities that they are doing They will force you upon your will to do it obviously they tried forcing me. I said no because what are they gonna do grab my legs and make me do it? I don’t think so They will force you to do any activity, and if you do not want to, they will yell and convince and yell and convince and try to get you to do the activity once a girl passed out on a hike because she couldn’t handle How much hiking they had to do and the counselors were yelling at her that she had to pick up the pace that she had to go faster and that they’re not even done yet and when I tell you, the counselors did nothing about it when she passed out they did nothing about it but if you’re not a kid like me and you don’t have a “attitude” problem then this camp will be really fun for you. There’s really cool activities and the counselors may be nice to you overall, this camp might be enjoyable for other kids just not me. I will not be coming back.❤️ also shout out to cammy she was really nice to me

I go here every year and it is the best summer camp I have ever been to and will only being going to. The food is great and the amount of activities they give us are anonymous. Highly recommend 👌

Some of the best summers I spent there from ‘74-‘79. An absolute honor to have known & be amongst the Shack family all those years. Suck a joy to have bumped into him & his sons again at our Teaneck-Clifton football game. Great times, fantastic staff, & memories. Always wondered if there’d ever be some form of reunion through the years.

I went in 87 and again in 88. TIME OF MY LIFE! Yeah we had to do chores, that’s life. We also had the hike, the canoe regatta, all the activities. Sure there was a lack of supervision, but who was supervised in the 80’s?? I had a blast.

Our daughter has had a great time for 3 years. Great counselors and people, lots of different activities, and very age appropriate. Lots of swimming and outdoor activities. We started with a 1 week session her first year, then 2 weeks, then 4 weeks, and next year she wants to go the whole summer. We're so happy we found this place.
