John Ulrich's Basketball Camp is a high-level skills camp for boys and girls in grades 2 through 10, run by IBCA Hall of Fame coach John Ulrich at Immanuel Lutheran School in Palatine. Camps are scheduled in spring, summer, fall and winter and are built around teaching and repetition; the site states that skill-building drills are emphasized over scrimmaging and that the camps are about players improving rather than being entertained. All levels are accepted, from beginners to travel players. The same organization fields the Midwest Bobcats travel teams, and camp registration is by online form.

Coach Ulrich has an incredible passion for the game of basketball and truely cares about making the kids better at basketbll and life. He only selects coaches that he knows and trusts to help out at the camps. One of the Bobcat coaches was on the Hersey boys basketball coaching staff that finished 5th in state this year.

Great program! The coaching is excellent and it's not overcrowded, so the kids actually get attention and develop their skills. Our daughter has improved a lot and gained confidence.

I’m genuinely impressed with everything about the Midwest Bobcats program. When Heather first tried out for their travel team and there weren’t enough girls in her age group, Coach Ulrich Jr. was incredibly accommodating. He offered her the chance to either join their training only program or try out for the boys’ team, and she jumped right in and made it! The coaching and personal attention here is fantastic. They focus on each child’s development, and make it feel truly family-oriented. Heather has grown so much in confidence and skill, and it’s been amazing to see her progress. She truly feels like she belongs. Plus, it’s affordable compared to other programs, and you can really tell they prioritize the kids’ development over profit. We’re absolutely planning to stay with the Midwest Bobcats long term because we couldn’t be happier with the experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The Midwest Bobcats, John Ulrich Jr. and his team of coaches have been absolutely incredible! My daughter started out in the winter season and she didn't hesitate once to continue into the next travel season. In this short time, she has shown tremendous growth! She has gained confidence, skills and continues to improve with each practice. All the coaches have been kind, empathetic and professional. They are always available to answer questions and help in any way they can. We absolutely love her team. The girls work together so well. They support one another, encourage one another and they lift each other up. They truly portray what a team should be. The parents have also been wonderful and create a welcoming environment with a team focus. It just feels right. It's the first club I've been to where the environment is competitive, healthy, positive and welcoming. I would highly recommend this club!

This is our first season with the Bobcats and they have been fantastic! We really wanted our daughter to improve on her skills training and we can see an improvement already. She comes home excited to show us all her new dribbles she's developed so far. Best part is the team's bond and an amazing coach. They are all very great together and pump each other up off the court and on the court. If you are looking into great local spot to sign your child up so they can improve on their skills and teamwork...Bobcats is the spot to be.
