Island Heights Yacht Club has run a summer sailing program on the Toms River since 1951, open to sailors aged 6-18. Children sail Optimist, Laser, FEVA and 420 dinghies across seven fleets split by age and ability, learning sailing fundamentals, seamanship, teamwork and confidence with a stated emphasis on safety. The club deliberately caps enrollment so that every child gets instructor time and mentoring, and it also hosts regattas including a USA Junior Olympic Mid-Atlantic sailing festival.

We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact Island Heights Yacht Club directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

Beautiful place by the water. Great views. There's a boardwalk for a nice stroll by the water. Plenty of free street parking. Easily accessible.
Love this place. Super relaxing. Cool in the summer.
The club is beautiful, but they could learn about the proper position of a flag. The U.S. flag should be raised first and lowered last. Other flags being displayed may be the same size and flown at the same height, but never higher nor larger than the American flag.
It’s a wonderful place to take a walk and breath fresh air and look at the water and all the ducks and people fishing or crabbing around on the docks. Beautiful views and gorgeous old 1900s houses all around to look at including really nice cars. Lots of families with children and people with dogs. Right now they are fixing the road so it’s partially closed but the water is still gorgeous and it feels just right being one the boardwalk and doing a bit of an exercise. I definitely recommend this area and this boardwalk to come and relax or exercise.
