Brigantine Yacht Club runs an eight-week junior sailing program starting in June, with a beginners course for sailors aged 7-16 covering sailing basics, boating safety and fun. Sailors are placed in beginner, intermediate or racing groups and are taught Monday to Friday; beginners generally sail in the morning when the wind is lightest, while intermediate and racing sailors take the afternoons when it is stronger, and on Thursdays racing sailors travel to regattas coached by club instructors. The club provides boats — Optimists for 7- to 16-year-olds, plus Sunfish, Lasers and Club 420s. Participation requires club membership.
