Beachwood Yacht Club, established in 1939 on the Toms River in Beachwood, runs summer sailing programmes for children alongside its adult classes and social calendar. Its Adventure Junior Sailing Camp takes children and young adults ages 8-16 at any experience level, running Monday to Thursday in four- and eight-week blocks; the club says hands-on experience means a child is sailing within days, and the programme sets out to build confidence, leadership skills and water safety while teaching sailors about the environment around them. A separate Little Mates half-day programme serves ages 5-7 with sailing-themed activities and crafts, land sailing, knot tying, points of sail, water safety and environmental education, and a Pre-Opti track bridges the two for sailors aged 7 or 8. The club partners with Save Barnegat Bay and hosts the Beachwood Blast Junior Regatta.
