The George Shimko Basketball School (GSBS) runs a weeklong summer basketball camp for boys and girls at the Oak Lawn Park District's Community Pavilion, now in its 32nd year. Campers are separated into groups by age and skill level and work on individual and team skills with college and high school coaches, professional instructors and student athletes, with a skills competition during the week. The camp is half-day, running Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 12:00pm, and enrollment is open to the public through the Oak Lawn Park District; enrollment is limited. Campers receive a basketball, t-shirt and graduation certificate.

★Harold WallaceIf it was up to me, they wouldn't get one star, the coaches that are at practice, doesn't coach the team at games, and doesn't play key players when needed. One coach, heavy set guy, stays on his phone during most of the game, the other coach skinny guy shows up to practice the last ten minutes of every practice and then coaches games and doesn't have a clue about any of his own players, subs five on five off the hole game. Same coach reports me for approaching the bench when my son gets hurt, but then has a parent have a lawn chair set right beside the bench while his son plays. If you want to pay $700 to have your son play for fun, this would be the team, but if you want your son to learn the game, and win, GSBS is not the team to succeed.
