Frederick Douglass R-Center at 999 South Avenue is one of the City of Rochester's municipal recreation centres, running year-round programming for youth, teens and adults and hosting the city's R-Camps summer programs, which the city describes as covering sports, arts and nature. Summer offerings for youth include Summer Play Days for ages 6-17 with crafting, gardening and field games, a Curious Creators STEM Lab for ages 6-12, and morning fitness sessions, and the centre runs a summer lunch program.
