Camp North Star

Our son went for the first time to Camp North Star last summer, 2025. We are a family from Stockholm, Sweden, and was looking for giving him a chance to experience something new while also practicing his English. And not only did he experience ”the best summer of my life” according to him, but he also got a new family, a camp family. We have had a first class experience, all the way from the directors and the cabin counsellors to the great bond of his new friends from all over the US and the world. For us as parents we have really appreciated the fact that we are giving our child the opportunity to have a screen free summer outdoors and surrounded by the great spirit of Camp North Star. Our sons favourites are waterskiing, waterpark och rock climbing, and just hanging with the cabin and making friends. We are counting down the days to this summer and camp!

I don’t have the words to describe how much of a special place Camp North Star is. From the owners to the directors to the staff and the kids you can see how much it really means to people and how much everyone feels as part of a family! The Bernsteins go above and beyond and will always be there to help you and for that they and the camp will always hold a special place in my heart! This is my 9th year coming back to the camp from the UK and I am looking forward to next year being my 10th and that just tells you how much of an effect the Bernsteins and Camp North Star has had in my life and how much of a better person it has made me and I can not thank them enough. Camp North Star is truly the best! Last year was our daughter’s first time attending, and when we dropped her off, she was timid and shy. Just two weeks later, we picked up a completely transformed kid—with the biggest smile on her face and a new found confidence! Her very first words to us were, “Next year, I want to go for the whole summer!” She had the most amazing time, made new friends, and loved every minute of her stay. From the wide variety of activities to choose from, she especially loved water skiing. Even the food was a hit—no small feat for our picky eater! As a parent, I really appreciated the daily opportunity to write to her, and while she didn’t always write back (she said she was having too much fun), the few letters we did get were filled with excitement. Steven and Brooke are absolutely wonderful, and we can’t thank them—and the entire Camp North Star staff—enough. The joy and happiness on our daughter’s face at pickup made it crystal clear that we made the right decision. We can’t wait for another summer at Camp North Star!

Steven was absolutely incredible from our first interaction via email, to the tour and then of course to his presence at camp. Our son had a bit of a tough time acclimating, and Steve was very supportive of him and also communicative with us. We love the variety of activities that are offered and the camp's philosophy on trying new things. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Camp North Star!
