Writing this review as both a former camper and more recently a counselor, I can confidently say that Camp Laurel South is a truly special place in the world. Not only is it set on a gorgeous property in the beautiful state of Maine, but what really makes it stand out are the people, especially the directors and leadership team. Drew, Crimson, and the entire leadership staff care deeply about the camp, the campers, and the counselors, putting everyone else before themselves. They’ll do absolutely anything to make sure people are safe, happy, and having fun. They’re friendly, genuine, caring, and make you feel like family from day one. Never be afraid to reach out to them about how you’re doing, they truly listen and want the best for everyone. Laurel South has changed my life in so many ways. I’ve met some of my best friends from all over the world there. For seven summers, I’ve had the chance to live in what feels like paradise, with minimal technology, a stunning lake, incredible people, and a strong sense of community that’s been amazing for my well-being. It’s such a peaceful place, and in today’s crazy world, everyone could use that kind of escape. The relationships I’ve built with fellow counselors from around the world, the hard work we put in, the joy of teaching kids to waterski, it’s all been such a rewarding and fun learning experience that’s benefited me in countless ways. If I could live at Camp Laurel South full-time, I absolutely would.

After eight unforgettable summers as a camper at Laurel South, it's hard to believe my time here has come to an end. This place has been more than just a camp — it's been a second home. The welcoming directors, Drew and Crimson, along with the incredibly supportive staff, create an environment where everyone feels valued and cared for. With so many activities to choose from, there’s always something new to try and enjoy. But what makes Laurel South truly special is the chance to just be a kid — no phones, no pressure — just pure fun and friendship. I'm beyond grateful for everything this camp has given me.

Camp Laurel South, how to even describe it! A summer of fun, friendships, sportsmanship, and learning all in one. Kids learn to be independent and make decisions for themselves when choosing their activities. My child has been a camper now for five summers and she looks forward to going back all year!! She earned her coveted five year club shirt this summer and can’t wait to show it off at school, it’s just THAT cool to be a camper at Laurel South. The staff are incredible and care for each and every one of the kids who attend. Even as a parent I get excited to roll up on arrival day and hear the staff cheer for me as I walk my daughter down! The directors are the best in camping- They know all the kids by name and truly make it known how important they are. I can call with questions anytime and I’m met with so much understanding. My camper has one more year of camp left as a camper but there is no doubt in my mind she will be back as a counselor in a few years time. A summer at Laurel South can’t be beat, send your kids here and they’ll leave with a lifetime of memories.

Laurel South is NOT your average run-of-the-mill summer camp - in fact, it is far from it. Not only is the campus gorgeous with top notch amenities and any activity you could possibly think of (really!), but the family who runs it makes these kids feel so at home and treat them like their own children. Roger and Dagni’s passion and dedication to Laurel South, as well as for their campers and the incredible staff, is unmatched. There’s a reason this camp is one of the top summer camps in the nation and has so many returning kiddos, and it begins and ends with the Christian family and the sheer love they put into everything they do at Laurel South. I couldn’t possibly recommend a better camp to attend - your campers won’t want to leave!
