Bay Shore Yacht Club's Junior Yacht Club teaches children ages 7-17 to sail on Great South Bay at 20 West Shore Road, Bay Shore. The program is tiered: Second Mate starts ages 7 and up with little or no experience on group boats such as Flying Scots and Mercurys, covering boat safety, seamanship and sportsmanship; Opti First Mate prepares sailors to skipper independently and enter Green Fleet Opti regattas; and Opti Beginning Skipper / Junior Racing Team adds racing rules, performance rigging and strategy. Adventure Sailing runs three-week sessions for ages 12 and up, with or without prior experience, sampling the club's Mercury, 420 and Flying Scot boats. All students must pass a BSYC swim test.

The club has also been blessed with wonderful cooks,which makes dinners great. It does not have a formal dining hall, but who cares.. Plus there is a nice group of talented sailors in the club as well. I recommend this to anyone who like to party and sail and completly informal.
