Wet Pants Sailing Association is a nonprofit sailing club and school founded in 1934, teaching junior sailing on Great South Bay from the Town of Islip's Port O'Call Marina in Sayville. Youth classes run Monday through Thursday in two- to three-hour blocks rather than as a full-day camp: beginner cruising and Optimist classes (ages 8-17 and 8-13) at 8-10am, intermediate cruising, Opti II and 420/Sunfish/Laser classes (ages 9-16) at 10am-12pm, and a junior race team (ages 10-17) at 1-4pm with Friday GSBYRA races off site that families transport to themselves. Sessions are four weeks (June 29-July 23) and three weeks (July 27-August 13) at $420-$750, and students may sail club boats or their own. A $275 family membership covering children 18 and under is required before enrolling, and early registration earns a discount.

Great sailing venue, social events and sailing school.

The building is rather run down, but this isn't a yacht club. I like how focused it is on sailing. Relatively cheap, and has a pretty good education program.

★★★★Dan Scolnick

Great place to sail a small boat out of on Great South Bay. There's always wind and every town on fire island is a short sail away.

★★★★★Peter Haynes

If you want to sail or to learn to sail Wet Pants is the place.

A wonderful group of sailors sailing at one of the nicest spots on the great south bay.
