Young Musicians of Virginia runs summer music programs in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach, meeting at New Song Fellowship near the Kempsville baseball fields. Its Band Camp is a half-day week, Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, open to students in 6th grade and up who have at least one year of band or private-lesson experience, at $125 per student; the organization also offers Summer Focus Weeks and classes. Homeschool and non-homeschool families are both welcome.

I attend YMV as a student. This has been my first year here and I absolutely love it. Everyone here is so kind and respectful. The classes are great. Would 100% recommend for home-schoolers who have musical talent such as playing an instrument or singing and for those who would like to learn how to play an instrument.
This is an excellent place to bring home schooled children to learn music, art, drama, and other classes. The school is well established (30 years old). There is a study hall for when children need to hang out in between classes. There are opportunities for a tuition discount if parents want to sign up to be hall monitors.
Not knowledgable and mildly tolerant of my child with special needs. Kids are very cliquish, and not easily accepting of new students. My child did learn to play violin wonderfully, unfortunately I will not send her back.
Been affiliated with the organization for 13+ years. Quality music education, great faculty, and core values. I give it a 4 out of 5. Excellent indeed.
