The Hugh R. Copeland Center is the downtown Norfolk home of The Hurrah Players, a youth theater company that runs musical theater day camps there for ages 5 and up. Camps run in two-week sessions from mid-June through mid-August, 9am-3:30pm with after care until 5:30pm, and cover singing, dancing and acting with no experience required; the last Friday of each session is a performance day for family and friends. Older students can instead take a teen performance camp for ages 13 and up (10am-4pm, staged at Virginia Wesleyan University), a six-week evening teen musical theater intensive, or TV and film camps for ages 12 and up covering filmmaking, photography, animation and lighting in full- and half-day formats. Registration is by phone.

Been going here for years. Being here as a student is so much fun.

Although this is a performing arts studio, they do rent out for private parties. I attended a private party for a military friend. Hurrah Players built this studio over 9 years ago. The building was an industrial structure possibly from the 1930's. I toured the building just prior to opening. They saved three brick walls and tore the roof and floor out. Then they built on the front. It's a unique venue. Free off street parking is available in front. Enjoyed the experience.

Nice space for plays and intimate atmosphere. Conveniently located and street parking available after hours for free. Bathrooms well equipped and clean.

Cute theater...a little small. I was in the front row, first seat. As the actors were exiting the stage my knee was bumped at least 3 times. Awesome show tho... The Christmas Pageant

Warm, cozy, professional and hospitable. I loved this place for the small production, Black Girl Magic. We loved the performance and the location.
