Powered by GoogleMale manager yelled at me and older woman at front desk mimicked everything I said including gestures for no apparent reason…. It was hostile and upsetting and I would like this targeting to stop. I’ve never even engaged with them beyond swiping my card….This kind of behavior is unacceptable and damaging. I called the head of operations to let them know. When I told the man his behavior was inappropriate he laughed and smirked… this is not a joke actually…. Please don’t bother me again- I’m there to exercise, not be harassed. Thanks!!
Amazing facility — thanks to many community supporters who have donated over the years. Excellent classes for all fitness levels. Great instructors who inspire me daily! I am grateful to be part of the Westport Weston Y community.
I’d like to write about someone I just had an experience with. Christine in the front desk was unprofessional and very disrespectful to us as members. We’ve been member at Westport and New Canaan Y. And also volunteer. She may have just been like this because we are Hispanic and think she can get away with speaking us that way. But wouldn’t be surprised! As this is Westport. I also just learned that after we said, you’re treating us differently because we are brown, she also stated, “you are acting brown.” In front of a friend that I know and overheard. This all happened in front of my kids as well. You’re doing great Christine. She shouldn’t be allowed to work front desk if she’s going to pick and choose how to treat people.
The usual Front Desk receptionist wasn’t here today, but someone I’ve never seen, Christine was. She made sure to triple check that we’re memebers.. fine. But when we explained to her that we usually only give one card in order to sign in for our family day at the Y she proceeded to be very condescending. After we explained that we’ve been coming here for multiple years including volunteer she says “no you’re not members here” also fine. It was the comment she made to my wife about “acting brown”. Wonder what that means. Not surprised because it’s not the first time I’ve seen such ignorance reported in the reviews. Anyways Christine is doing a great job making “brown” folks feel welcomed. I think she’s new.
We went to the free play in the gymnastic room. It's held Monday to Friday from 9-11a.m. and it's $10 per kid you do not have to be a member. My kids absolutely had a blast, it's a good way to burn off that extra energy they have
