West Boise YMCA and Boise City Aquatic Center

Ever-growing and ever-changing, the West Y is an excellent community space. I loved it as a kiddo, and now I enjoy coming to TRX classes and following it up with some complimentary tea while I complete the daily sudoku puzzle. There are rockstar employees who have been here for many years, and I appreciate the financial aid that the Y offers to anyone who qualifies. I would love to see further community-focused spaces that they've started implementing, as it is nice to have somewhere just to spend time and be around people. The nook with the puzzle, chess, and the gaming station is nice. Although chess next an obnoxious gaming device is subpar. The locker rooms are cleaner than they used to be, which is good. Going for a swim in the non-busy hours is nice. Given that the West Y is a community center, I am disappointed that the Y does not have any "safe space" signage on any entrances or community spaces. With this addition, I would be giving the Y 5 stars all around.

My 4 year old son was in swimming lessons at the YMCA west Boise location and slipped off the step where he could not reach. Head bobbing up and down and the instructor did not even notice even though my child was in arms reach and right in front of him. I had to get up to inform the instructor that my child was drowning before he did something. I reached out to the aquatics department and still have not heard from them in regards to the situation. Previous swim lesson was great but unfortunately after this last session and not being contacted back I will not enroll again.

Swimming lessons for kids fill up pretty fast. Over all, it's always a blast for my children for almost a year now. Rock climbing and swimming lessons are always fun. Swimming instructors are awesome. My 3 kids enjoy their lessons as they learn new skills and challenge themselves. Recommended to all my family and friends.

Pretty nice place but bring ear plugs if you don’t like loud music. Gave me a headache and had to plugged my ears the whole time while watching my kids swim and even with my ears plugged I could still hear the loud music..a couple songs were really hard rock with screaming in the song. Everything else was positive. I will bring ear plugs next time.

I came here for a swim meet. It’s very cool how the pool can be a 25 meter pool and a 50 meter pool. The Locke rooms were clean and new. But The building was so hot all they had there to keep us cool we’re old dusty fans. The bleachers were so uncomfortable and a pain on my back. At the time there were many complaints because only swimmers can use the restrooms and Locker rooms (most of the time it’s empty) while spectators have to use a porta potty outside.
