The San Francisco Yacht Club

The San Francisco Yacht Club in Belvedere runs a summer sailing program for children ages 6 to 16 on Belvedere Cove and San Francisco Bay. Harbor Mice, for ages 6 to 8, is offered full-day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or as a morning or afternoon half-day; Optimist classes for ages 9 to 13 run full-day 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and double-handed CFJ classes for ages 12 to 16 run 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and require sailors over 110 pounds who can lift their own body weight out of the water. Registration is online and opens to the public on January 30 after a member-only window. Tuition is $1,200 for members and $1,780 for non-members, with a limited number of needs-based scholarships through the Belvedere Cove Foundation.
