Encinal Yacht Club's junior sailing program teaches seamanship and small-boat handling to youth from about age 5 through 18 on the Alameda estuary, running from beginner Green Guppies classes up to an afternoon race team. Summer is structured as three three-week sessions, Monday through Thursday, offering morning or afternoon sailing classes rather than a full-day schedule, with nine weeks of options across the summer. The program is open to both club members and non-members, with public registration opening February 15, and its stated aims are sportsmanship and self-reliance alongside sailing skill. Encinal's junior program has won the PICYA Admiral Chester Nimitz Trophy for the Bay Area's most outstanding junior sailing program.

Excellent club! Wide range of activities, very active membership. Excellent restaurant and event venue. We went for drinks and dinner with friends who are members. We enjoyed our time there. Highly recommended.
Thank you for allowing us to use the pool at the Encinal Yacht Club. We have been coming here for 4 years now. Still an amazing pool!
We came for the Veterans Wheelchair Regatta. Everyone was so nice, and the event was organized so well. We can't wait to come back next year.
Encinal Yacht Club has to be the nicest in Alameda. I come as a guest and the staff, facilities, and racing program are well known. A great scene since the post-pandemic reopening. Talk to a friendly member to join.
