THE R CHILD runs a robotics and STEAM day camp for ages 5-14 at its Demarest STEAM center on Hardenburgh Avenue, serving families in Demarest, Closter and Tenafly. Younger campers work on LEGO robotics, Scratch coding and game design, Minecraft coding and build challenges, 3D printing and modeling, makerspace projects and digital art; older campers move on to VEX IQ robotics, Roblox game design, Python and Blender and Tinkercad modeling. Each week has its own theme so campers can attend several weeks without repeating projects, and the center has classroom and play zones plus a cafeteria area for lunch; instructors are CPR-trained.
