Sailing Project Endeavor is a San Diego nonprofit that teaches seamanship and nautical education to at-risk youth ages 16 to 21. The program runs four weeks of basic, intermediate and advanced instruction covering life-saving skills and CPR, small-craft seamanship fundamentals, voyage planning and coastal to open-ocean navigation, followed by six to eight weeks of practical application putting those skills to use. Environmental protection and marine-life preservation are part of the curriculum, and the organization frames the program as leadership development rather than recreation.
